POINT PLEASANT
Topo By Tristan Cleveland
A quirky bonus for urbanites craving outdoor practice without a road trip, or those up for an offbeat day at the park! Keep expectations in check, as this isn't bouldering by usual standards and only makes the cut here because of it's unique location. Hit "
Select Topos" in the sidebar to explore the unconventional side of this unusual outing.
Main Boulder
You can find this boulder and The Birch Tree Boulder by exiting the path
right here
. They’re only about 30 feet into the woods. The face is covered in holds, so in addition to the problems below, you can make your own fun by choosing specific holds for your own routes.
1. The Cure SDS V3
Pull yourself up on tiny crimps and launch for the nearest hold, and then up. There’s nothing undignified with a butt smear if necessary. The name is given by the graffiti. A problem that invites creativity and determination! 🎨
2. Climb the Face V0
Pick any spot you want and go up. Lots of options. A choose-your-own-adventure problem that lets you explore different techniques and paths! 🛤️
3. Monoculture SDS V3
Tristan Cleveland
Similar to The Cure, but start on a different set of small crimps. Also, some of the most convenient holds are mono/double-finger slots. A problem that challenges your finger strength and precision! 🎯
4. Climb the Arête SDS V0
All in the title. A straightforward and honest problem that lets you focus on the climbing!
5. High traverse SDS V0
Start on the right arête and move left, topping out on the small ledge on the left. Exclude the top arête. A problem that requires careful foot placement and balance! 👣
Birch Tree Boulder
Right next to the Main Boulder.
6. Birch Tree SDS V1
V2 Variation
Put your right hand on the jug and press your left hand against a low ledge to lever yourself up, and head upwards. V2 variation: exclude the arête except for the tippy-top. V0 variation: stand-start. A problem with different difficulty options to suit your skill level! 📈
Pine Tree Boulder
This one is just off the Bridle Path between the two ponds. It’s a small boulder, but a beautiful spot to spend time.
PSA:
Please don’t clean the moss off the rocks by the bridle path. It may look climbable, but that moss contributes to the aesthetics of the park. Let’s be good climbing citizens.
7. Pine Tree SDS V0
Follow the cracks and jugs to the top. A problem with a natural line that offers an enjoyable journey to the top! 🌄
8. Martello SDS V2
Tristan Cleveland
Sit on the ground (not the rock) and use the right jug and left-hand pinch to get up. A knee bar and heel hook may help to get up to the higher pinch and good crimp. Tricky. A problem that rewards creative thinking and body positioning! 🤔
9. Easy Does It SDS V2
Tristan Cleveland
Take a comfortable seat on the rock on the left. Pull yourself on and then traverse around the prow and top-out on the far right. The crux is getting around the corner. A problem that tests your endurance and ability to navigate a tricky transition! 🔄
